“This business is built on being an extension of the client’s business where we provide cost effective management of their printing needs.”

EASTERN PRESS ENVIRONMENT STATEMENT

Eastern Press has adopted an Environmental Policy which embraces the international best practices that are recommended by the Printing Industries of Australia and that are complimentary to our social responsibilities and those of our clients. It is the aim of this Policy that in all our business dealings we act in an environmentally responsible manner and contribute to the long term sustainability of the Printing Industry.

At Eastern Press we strive to keep the highest level of environmental standards both inside and outside our premises.  By implementing these practices this has had a positive effect on our manufacturing processes and quality standards.

Our principal paper merchant is FSC certified and our house stocks have FSC accreditation.  Fully or partly recycled paper is used as required to meet client specifications.  All of our paper off cuts and waste products are recycled to help reduce the impact on natural forests and plantations.

All of our liquid waste is captured and transported to liquid recyclers for separation and refining. No factory liquids are released into sewerage or storm water drains. Even some chemical residues which are considered biodegradable are sent for recycling. Where possible our policy is to use low impact vegetable-based inks and water miscible solvents which have low or no flash point.

Eastern Press recently changed plate suppliers and as such there has been a reduction in both power and water consumption and also an improvement in print quality.

In January 2008 Eastern Press will commission the first Analox Offset press in Australia.  This machine will produce full colour sheets with constant colour reproduction in 10 revolutions.  This press will have a positive impact on all environmental issues by printing very short runs more effectively than any other offset press on the market.

Other initiatives include the replacement of delivery vehicles with diesel rather than petrol engined vehicles and the installation of a consolidated air supply that is more energy efficient and removes this noise from the working environment.

At Eastern Press we have responded actively to the need for policies which not only promote a clean, sustainable environment but also look after the health, safety and welfare of our employees.

Eastern Press maintains a safe and clean working environment for employees and visitors.
